Boris: 100,000 apprenticeships by end of 2012

Boris Johnson is committed to growing London's economy and has already helped to create over 40,000 new apprenticeships for Londoners in just over a year. This has helped make the capital the fastest growing UK region for new opportunities. The Mayor's apprenticeship drive, launched last November, saw Boris personally lobby some of the capital's biggest employers urging them to do their share to get Londoners back into work. But he can do more. Which is why Boris has now upped his target to 100,000 by the end of 2012. To keep growing London's economy and build on this success the Mayor is targeting areas including financial services, digital, creative, cultural, retail and hospitality, where apprenticeships are still underrepresented compared to the size of their workforces. Dear Sam,  I’m about to go on stage to address the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester.
